The B.B.C Eh that will do for me.
I went into the B.B.C today to record two songs, it felt brilliant, and very special,The atmosphere was relaxed as I started with the clean version of "Does my BUM look big in these", followed by "I got a CD" both songs were recorded in one take,I was then asked if I would come in on Monday night 26/July 04 at Midnight to perform "Our new Ancoat's masionette" and also do an interview, and of course I said yes.not even bothering to think about the fact that I am a postman and 04-30 soon comes round when you go to bed at 10-30 pm.but hey thats showbiz and I will get enough sleep when I am dead,I was asked if I enjoyed the set today and I replied "I enjoyed it so much I am thinking of buying a licence" I then had to assure them that I was only kidding.Ye it felt good walking up them stairs today,I am looking forward to doing it again on Monday.
Eh we had an after "gig" party
Ye me in a club,I have not been in a club since Rotters in 1977,and nothing has changed except the prices,I bailed out about 1-30 (Lightweight)made the excuse that I had to collect my pention tomorrow.
Gig Report Britons Protection 16th July
It started with a panic, People were queuing up all the way down the stairs, so the tables had to come out and replaced with about 8 rows of chairs, I had that feeling is the room big enough but that's sods law book a small room and loads turn up, book a bigger venue and guess what it's half empty, there was standing room only at the back with all the side seating now taken up basically it was packed.I went on about 8-30 and ye It felt good I have never played to so many people, I was under no illusions I knew that the vast majority had come to see Lee Griffiths,People had come from Devon, Nottingham, and Bournmouth, but I think I made a few new mates along the way, I played the longest set I have ever done about 70 min and I really enjoyed it, My new stuff seemed to go down well I got asked if Urban Splash is on the Canadian geese album and it was nice to be able to say no it will be on the next one, The Britons Protection is a great venue however it is not the easiest place to get a pint, they have a serving hatch like the one in our masionette, but once I had come off I was gagging for a Guinness so it was two at a time, Lee was superb he just blew the place away, with some of his new songs that are going to be massive, this was a night where chalk and cheese came together and it worked, we both said that "We had them tonight"
and the audience went home happy and a good night was had by all.

I was met with a very abbrupt NO.maybe he had heard it 20 times before I got there.
City Life CD Review
Well I just got my copy of Citylife this week issue 544 dated 15th July and guess what "I got a review" and what a "good un"
it is, The full review will be posted in my "Review" section very soon.
Hey Im back from Ireland (But not Sober)
Well Ireland was brilliant the people, the food, and the black stuff. When I got back I found out the my nephew Paul had been offered his first professional football contract with his beloved Manchester City, he signs next week when he reaches 18.So good luck Paul, I have been invited in by The B.B.C to record a set on July 21st,This includes 2 songs and a interview, so looking forward to that, just not too sure what to sing yet,(any suggestions)I will let you all know when it is going out (That’s a radio saying)I also got a date to play at The Printworks in Manchester on Sat 24th July, this is to find the best talent in the North west, I will let you know if I get past the first round. Or past the front door. I have had some enquiries from down south for tickets for this weeks gig that me and Lee Griffiths are putting on at the Britons Protection this is not an all ticket gig it's pay £4-00 on the door and first come first serve, the room only holds around 70-80 people so please get down early, it will be a cracking night
Chorlton Folk club gig last night
Wow that was a hot gig, If there is a warmer atmosphere than Chorlton folk club then I have yet to find it the place is so welcoming, I took Lee Griffiths along with me to introduce him to "folk" and he was amazed at how friendly everybody was apart from the fact that he had a Man United shirt on in a City stronghold, The gig started off with some Gramophone 78 records followed on by a steady stream of "Folkies" poets and songwriters. Lee very soon made even the city fans sit up and clap as he finished two songs he wrote himself, there was a break of about 15 min around 11-00pm and the gig started up again at 11-15pm,Its not often that Joe does a set at his own club but last night he treated us to a great song he wrote himself, Then I went on about 11-20,I did a mix of songs some of Canadian geese and some brand new, and "ye" it was a cool night, with an encore of two songs (does my arse look big in these and I got a CD) to finish. I didn't even realise the time but when I was driving past the post office at 12-45am I started thinking whoops I am in there in 3 hours, hey but that’s rock and roll
